Science demonstrates that music education is essential to the development of human potential. With the continued decline of music and arts in public education, the role of independent music teachers and private music study is vital to the growth and success of all American communities now more than ever before.
The Vital Role of Private Music Education
In keeping with Wendelken Piano Studio and Wendelken Studio of Musical Arts’ commitment to culture and creativity and to making music accessible to everyone, our school offers a wide variety of private lessons and group performance classes for people of all ages, levels, and artistic interests. Wendelken Piano Studio draws its students from South Tampa to Pasco, from Westchase to Carrollwood, Seminole Heights to Saddlebrook, Wesley Chapel, and Lutz.
Along with our affiliate, The Royal Conservatory of Music, WSMA is dedicated to excellence in music education, developing new and innovative programs to meet the needs of our students, and presenting educational opportunities that reflect Tampa’s unique multicultural social context.
Our faculty of distinguished artists and educators are committed to the development and growth of their students as artists and individuals. Acknowledging that every student has unique methods of learning and levels of ability, students work collaboratively with their instructors to ensure that their individual needs and interests are addressed.
When working with a child, learning music never really feels like work. The mind remains more open and retains better when lessons are fun, as well as challenging. They attribute their ability to think and problem solve in a different “Divergent” manner to their music lessons, just as Einstein did: “The theory of relativity occurred to me by intuition, and music is the driving force behind this intuition. My parents had me study the violin from the time I was six. My new discovery is the result of musical perception”
Music education fosters many of the skills children will require for success in school and the workplace, as well as their personal and social lives. Many scientific studies have demonstrated the benefits of learning music, including increased self-confidence, improved self-discipline, gains in memory, and reduced stress.
